Frequently Asked Questions:

If you are a current client, any questions you may have may be answered by familiarizing yourself with the Welcome Packet which you can find in the client portal. Please feel free to message us or call with any other questions.

Do You Offer Emergency Visits/Crisis Services?:

We are a solo outpatient practice and are not able to accommodate emergency visits for new or established clients. In this case, we will refer you to contact a crisis resource or visit your local emergency department. We will do our best to get you scheduled for an appointment as soon as possible, but please take this into consideration when you inquire as a new client.

Do You Prescribe Controlled Substances?

No, we do not prescribe stimulants, benzodiazepines, or sedative-hypnotics (ex: amphetamine/Adderall, alprazolam/Xanax, clonazepam/Klonopin, zolpidem/Ambien, zaleplon/Sonata, etc.). Please take a moment to read about the risks of using benzodiazepines. We would be happy to discuss alternative medications with you for management of your symptoms. If you are currently prescribed a benzodiazepine or stimulant by another provider, we will be unable to take over the prescription.

Do You Fill Out Paperwork for FMLA and/or Permanent Disability?

If you are a client who has been seen regularly for at least three months, we can discuss FMLA paperwork if your situation requires it. We do not fill out paperwork for permanent disability.

How Do I Make an Appointment as a New Client?

Start by clicking the “Inquire” button at the top right of the website. This will prompt you to fill out an e-mail with several questions. This allows us to see if we would be able to offer you the services you would best benefit from. We will be in touch with you within 2 business days. All intake sessions must be held-in person at my office in Clinton. Follow-up sessions can be held in-person or telehealth (for telehealth sessions, you must be physically located in New Jersey at the time of our session).

How Do I Get in Touch as an Established Client?

Messaging us via the Patient Portal is the preferred method of communication. Voicemail is the second best way. We will respond to messages and voicemails within 2 business days. Text messages will not be responded to as they are not a secure/private means of communication. If you send us a text message, you will not receive a reply. Please either leave us a voicemail or message us on the portal.

How Do Outdoor Sessions Work?

At the conclusion of our first appointment, we will set up our next session. If you’d like to schedule an hour-long outdoor session (and if this is clinically appropriate), we will agree upon a meeting place to hold our outdoor session at a local walking trail near Clinton, NJ. One business day before our session, we will ask if you’d still like to hold the session outdoors, or, if the weather dictates otherwise, we will change it to an office or remote visit. At the start of our session, Amanda will set a timer for halfway through our visit and we will turn around and head back once the timer goes off. To engage in outdoor sessions, you must sign an activity waiver. If you are prescribed medications, Amanda will send a refill to your preferred pharmacy near the end of the session.

If I Need to Call My Insurance Company, What Questions Should I Ask Them About Out-of-Network (OON) Reimbursement?

Does my insurance plan provide out-of-network reimbursement for mental health services?

Do I need to meet a deductible before I can be reimbursed?

What percentage of the fee will be covered by my insurance plan?

How many sessions will be covered each year?

As a Private Pay/OON Client, How Do Payments Work?

The deposit for your 90-minute intake session is due at the time of booking ($100) to reserve your session spot. The remainder of the fee is due the day of our session. For all follow-up sessions, an invoice will be sent to your e-mail address via the client portal on the morning of our scheduled session. If the invoice is still outstanding at the time of our session, your card on file will be charged before we begin. Superbills will be provided upon request. We cannot guarantee that your insurance will reimburse you for services so please check with them ahead of time or ask us to verify this for you prior to scheduling a session. Superbills do include your diagnosis as required by insurance companies, so please be aware of this.

Can You Refill My Medications Prescribed by my Family Doctor/Specialist?
